Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a relaxing form of gentle exercise which has become associated with stress relief and health improvement.

Tai Chi Leader: Bob Broughton - 01695 574138

The original Chinese exercise regime, developed thousands of years ago, and the basis of Yoga, Pilates and the martial arts, Tai Chi practices 24 basic moves, covering all the muscles of the body. It is performed standing up, so no-one needs a mat or excessive space. Regular use improves flexibility, breathing control and quality of sleep, decreases stress levels, increases energy, concentration and instils a general sense of well-being.

You can find more information on Tai Chi at the Kwong Tam Merseyside School of Tai Chi

The Leader, Bob Broughton, learned the Yang Style of Tai Chi Chuan and the Chi Kung exercises at the Kwong Tam School and is also involved in running classes at Aintree Hospital, emphasising the health benefits of Tai Chi. He uses a simplified routine.  He suggests wearing comfortable clothes and not eating too much before the session.

A class runs for 10 weeks.  Cost is £5 for 10 sessions.

Unfortunately, at the moment, the classes are still full but ……….

There is a non-U3A class, attended by U3A members, at Brookside at 10am on Friday morning. Cost £3 for each session. Contact the Tai Chi Leader, Heather Reade – 01695 356016, for details.
