Earth/Geology

Geologists are ‘earth detectives’. Just like other detectives, we need clues that can help us explain what happened in the past. Studying what happens at the coast, in rivers or in the desert can help us figure out how landscapes change and sedimentary rocks form.

As from 18th September 2015, the group will be discussing the ‘Treasures of the Earth’ ie precious metals and gemstones.

Please contact the Group Leader for further details on this topic and also if you would like more information about the Earth/Geology Group in particular.

Friday 16 October – Keith will continue his new series of talks on Gemstones, precious metals etc, covering their sources and properties, and the history of how the uses developed.

In the 2nd half of the afternoon we are to have a presentation from Bill Hale with the cryptic title, ‘Drones, Blue John and Bird Geology’.

We can expect some interesting bird photos !!!
